Gotham Opera House: the Hungarian National Gallery in Budapest

Like to travel? Following Super Bowl? Can’t wait to watch Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice? You have to see the TV commercial of Turkish Airlines that was shown last Sunday’s Super Bowl event:

About the rich cultural life and attractions of Gotham City:

“There’s always plenty of fun kicking up in Gotham, from a surging theater scene to an indie-arts incubator in the paint-splattered lofts of Little Bohemia. The Gotham City Opera House and the Rosemont Theater are twin cornerstones of culture for the highbrow set, and are architectural draws even for those who don’t care about seeing the latest shows.” More

You must have noticed this glorious building, the “legendary Gotham Opera House“, at 0:21 in the video.

Are you wondering what is this pearl of architecture in the imaginary town of Batman? Drum roll, please: it is real, the Hungarian National Gallery, in Budapest!

The Hungarian National Gallery which resides in the former Buda Royal Palace, is one of the most recognizable buildings of the Budapest skyline, located on the hilly side of the town, at Buda Castle.

The term Budai Vár (Buda Castle) is used both for the entire Buda Castle District and for this palace as well, which is most often referred to as Budavári Palota in Hungarian (“Buda Castle Palace”), to make it more precise.

Enjoy an enchanting walk at Buda Castle on a balmy night in June 2009, with the following pictures; click on any of them to view the full album:
