Hungary

Welcome to my beloved homeland!

On this page, you find general travel information about Hungary, along with personal recommendations from someone who grew up there.

I have spent about 17 years of my life abroad so far, hopping from country to country, but this tiny little gem in Central Europe is still in the bottom of my heart and forever it will be.

After being sentimental for a second, let’s get practical: looking at it as objectively as I possibly can, I highly recommend that you visit this beautiful place with a special flair, delicious food and wine, very rich cultural heritage, terrific spas and other waters, lovely people, plus much more.

Train:

Hungarian Railways Here you can always check the latest railway information and buy tickets. However, and here is a Tip: If you need a train ticket from Hungary and you spend a few days there before, perhaps it is easier just to go to one of the main stations and buy it on the spot. The website is not super friendly for foreign language bookings…

As a singer and dancer, naturally my #1 recommendation would be cultural events: concerts and other live music occasions, folklore shows. Hungary is exceptionally rich in music, especially in Classical, Jazz and World. And you might fall in love with traditional Hungarian folk music:

You can also take Hungarian folk music with you wherever you are, from our album Authentic Hungarian Village Music (Andrea Gerak & Barozda – shameless self-promotion!)
